5 Non Surgical Cosmetic Procedures for the Face

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past five years, you might’ve heard a thing or two about the world of plastic surgery. For example, the industry has been booming in recent years, and that is heavily due to social media influencers and celebrities. You might’ve also heard about all the new technology coming from this rise in popularity resulting in a multitude of swift and easy non-invasive procedures.

Non-invasive procedures, more often than not, are used to enhance the face. Invasive procedures that require surgery are things like tummy tucks or rhinoplasty. Something non-invasive would be along the lines of trendy procedures like botox or lip fillers.

If the thought of getting under the knife is daunting, but you still want to enhance your features, worry not because there is something out there for you!

Check out these five non-invasive cosmetic procedures down below. Not only are they less costly than surgical procedures, but they are also temporary, so if you’re not too happy with the results, you can always get it removed or wait till the effect diminishes.

Lip injections or better known as lip “fillers,” are extremely popular and effective. Lip fillers not only for those who want bigger or poutier lips but also for anyone wanting to transform their lips or overall face.

Not happy with the size of your top lip? Lips not symmetrical? Lip injections can fix all these problems in less than an hour.

Lip injections contain fillers like the ever-popular Juvederm, which is a soft-tissue filler. After applying a numbing cream to the lip areas and making sure the spot is numb, the filler is injected around the lips and automatically gives the desired effect. There is no downtime, and you can resume normal activities immediately. Depending on the patient, there is a bit of swelling that goes down after a couple of hours.

Average Cost: Anywhere from $550 to $2,000

  • Botox

Botox is one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures within the beauty industry. There is not a person who hasn’t heard the word botox uttered somewhere. This powerful injectable is widely loved and with good reason.

Botox aims to create smoother, tightened skin. This is done by weakening the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. When done by a professional with botox training, the results help look younger, well-rested and not unnaturally frozen in place.

Botox is also a tremendous non-surgical procedure that helps with anti-aging. If used the moment lines begin to appear, the injectable can prevent more lines and wrinkles from forming.

Just like with any filler, after numbing the area, the botox is injected into the targeted areas, and there is minimal downtime required so you can get back to your day immediately. The result, such as smoothing of lines and wrinkles, becomes visible within 24 to 48 hours and lasts up to 4 months.

Average Cost: Cost varies depending on the price per unit. The total cost is roughly around $250 to $500 per area.

  • Chin Reduction

As the beauty industry continues to grow, so do fascinating new procedures such as this. Before, fat from the chin was sucked out through lipo; however, there is now a new non-invasive treatment for reducing that stubborn double-chin fat and contouring the jawline.

The procedure is done by injecting fat busters into the double chin area. There are two popular injectables out there that can be used; Belkyra and Kybella. Both contain deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in the body that absorbs fat cells and is essential to chin reductions.

After numbing the area, the treatment is injected into the chin and neck area. The total procedure time is from 15 to 20 minutes and comes with less discomfort than past liposuction methods.

Average Cost: Roughly $2500 in the USA, but can go up to $5000

  • Coolsculpting

This non-surgical procedure is by far the most interesting. It requires no downtime, no extra work from you, and best of all, no discomfort.

Coolsculpting is nothing new. It’s been a form of fat reduction approved by the FDA since 2010 but has recently just begun to gain traction as a popular non-surgical procedure. Rather than targeting large areas of fat, Coolsculpting focuses on smaller pockets of fat that are hard to get rid of or reach with liposuction. Like it says in the name, this is done by freezing those fat cells.

Coolsculpting requires the practitioner to vacuum the skin above the area of fat into an application or mechanism that cools the fat cells. The cold temperature destroys the fat cells below the skin’s surface and is then massaged to break up the fat that is eliminated naturally by the body.

Coolsculpting takes about an hour and has no recovery time as there is no external damage to the skin. More than one session is required to see results. It may take around five months for fat cells to leave the body and see a decrease in fat percentage.

Average Cost: Anywhere from $2000 to $4000 for a personalized treatment plan

  • Chemical Peels

The word chemical makes this procedure sounds dangerous; however, it is anything but that. A chemical peel is used to remove old skin to allow new layers to take their place. This results in brighter, clearer-looking skin.

Most chemical peels are done to treat acne, wrinkles, discoloration, and skin texture.

The procedure varies in strength depending on the patient’s skin sensitivity. Based on the strength of the peel, skin can look sunburned and scab and peel.

Deeper chemical peels require a longer recovery time, such as a week or longer. It is also vital to avoid the sun as much as possible during recovery time. The procedure can be done on other areas of the body but is mainly done on the face.

Average Cost: Starting from $150 to $673 depending on the intensity of the peel.
